HBS TECHNOLOGY - AN OVERVIEW
Human BioSystems was formed to complete the development of an exclusive and proprietary preservation technology for blood platelets and for human organs including hearts, kidneys, livers, lungs, heart valves and other tissues. We chose to address platelet storage technology as the initial product because of the urgent and imperative worldwide need for a technology that would extend the very short time frame that platelets can currently be stored. We believe that our advanced preservation technology may have a tremendous beneficial impact on patients, hospitals and blood banks. The HBS method for preserving blood platelets utilizes a nontoxic proprietary solution.

The HBS method suppresses bacterial growth while maintaining platelet functionality. Our initial focus is to deliver a safe, bacteria-free, practical, and commercially viable method to preserve platelets for seven to ten days. While further testing and development work is necessary, and FDA testing and approval is required prior to marketing the platelet preservation system for commercial use, HBS is optimistic that a seven to ten day shelf life may be very possible.

Organ preservation test results also appear exciting and promising. While additional animal testing must be conducted, the basic HBS organ technology and methodology has displayed amazingly effective breakthroughs. While the goal of maintaining the functionality of a complete organ is a highly complex and technically challenging project, we believe we have already succeeded in accomplishing more in this area than any other company or individual.
